Many people believe that immigration is an issue in today’s world. I highly disagree with that claim and I think immigration is one of the best things to happen to America.
Three of my best friends are immigrants and they are a big part of my life and shape how I am as a person and I feel they will shape me even more in the future.
One of the three is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. He does a lot for the school since he’s in the student council and is a student ambassador, is involved with many clubs, and is in many AP classes. I aspire to be as passionate as he is about school and the community we share. He has helped me a lot in my high school career and is part of the reason why I’m confident to challenge myself academically. He’s more than just my friend, he’s such a positive impact to Everett High’s community.
My other friend, Samira, is also one of the smartest people I know. She is a very compassionate person and I think her personality is a very big part of my own personality. Samira has been a good friend of mine since middle school and I’m grateful to have her in my life everyday.
The last person I want to talk about is Adrianna. Adrianna is a soccer player and track runner and I admire her dedication to those things. She cares a lot for her sport and for her team and I had always wanted to be athletic like her, she even tried to convince me to join track when she started. I talk to Adrianna every day and whenever I need advice I go to her.
All three of these people I have known since middle school and everyday I wish I could’ve met them sooner. They are all parts of who I am and they make up my personality. I see that even people who aren’t my best friends are making such a positive impact in my community and I see their accomplishments and am grateful to be a part of such a diverse community.
People would argue that the qualities of these three people aren’t important and those are things everyone has, but I can wholeheartedly say I don’t agree.
Yes, these qualities of the people in my life are important and everyone should have them no matter what but the way they have all affected my life is in a way I could never fully describe with words. They are pillars of my life and without them I’m not me. I get so much of myself from each of these people and I believe others do too.
My friends’ smarts, dedication, and true care for what they all do is, I hope, a boost for others to act the way they do. I really do wish people saw them as more than what they present, as more than just an immigrant, as an inspiration to people. My whole school has definitely benefited from these people.
