The stadium lights shine down on him as he starts grabbing his clipboard and making a game plan. His players start kneeling down one by one in front of him to thank him for the great season as he prepares his dramatic and heartfelt speech, to describe all the strengths of his players and how they have improved throughout the season.
For first-year vice principal and third-year head football coach Rob DiLoreto, Everett football is part of his heart. Every day he values the opportunity to give his very best effort on the practice field or in the games. As a coach, he tries to be mindful and respectful of his players and other coaches. He feels that his team works extremely hard.
“I’m very proud of the effort, determination, commitment and love the team shows for football,” DiLoreto said.
Behind the inspired coaching though lies a story of tragic personal loss in his family.
“My personal hero is my late son Jason,” DiLoreto said. “Jason was the most courageous, beautiful and strong baby and I was blessed to be his father. He is now an angel on my shoulder and Jason is my hero.”
DiLoreto describes working at Everett High as a wonderful experience and really enjoys working here. He also hopes to build a positive relationship with students and staff, and build on the positive culture at EHS.
“I feel very humble, honored and proud to be back at Everett High,” DiLoreto said. “There is no place in the world that I would rather be than right here at Everett High School leading this football program. Everett is my hometown and I am so proud to be back in the city I love.”
DiLoreto feels like he does his best to balance being both a football coach and a vice principal. Balancing both requires a lot of time on his part, even though it is definitely worth it to him. If his life were a book, he would call it “Work Hard and Be Humble.” He enjoys spending his free time with his family and his baby grandson whom he loves to visit and spoil.
“I am living my dream job,” DiLoreto said. “There is no place in the world I would rather be than right here at Everett High School.”
