About the Contributors
Susana Prachi, reporter
Freshman Susana Prachi is a 15-year-old Bangladeshi who enjoys writing both in and out of school. Initially, she may seem like a very introverted, quiet person, but becomes a wholly different person when she gets comfortable. While creative writing is one of her more prominent hobbies, Prachi also likes reading and watching different TV shows and movies in her free time, and often finds herself becoming deeply immersed with the universe that her favoured media creates. Her favorite show is “The Haunting Of Hill House”, and her favorite movie is Crimson Peak. Another one of her hobbies is doing henna on her own hands and also for her family. She finds comfort and satisfaction in creating the intricate patterns and designs. Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Prachi moved to the US last November and has been living with her family of ten since. She still feels homesick and greatly misses Bangladeshi cuisine. Prachi tries to stay deeply connected with her culture and religion. During the pandemic, Prachi taught herself basic Turkish by watching different Turkish movies and dramas— a skill that she regrets not practicing further. Her favorite subject is English, but she is also interested in Biology. In the future, Prachi wishes for her career to revolve around her primary interests of writing, and hopes for a life that would make her parents proud.
Anne-Laurie Elescar, reporter
Sophomore Anne-Laurie Elescar is Haitian, but was born here in Massachusetts, and hasn’t lived in any other state. Her birthday is December 24. She is Christian and goes to church every other Sunday. Elescar’s favorite types of music are rap, r&b and a little bit of jazz. Her favorite artists are Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, and Laufey. Elescar has two sisters. In her freetime, she crochets and watches K-Dramas on Netflix. Elescar is very hard working in school and takes all honors classes. Her favorite subjects are math and history. Journalism is her favorite elective. Elescar’s favorite book series is The Hunger Games. She is fluent in only one language, that being English, but she can understand most Haitian Creole, and is learning Spanish. Elescar does not know what career she’ll choose in the future, but her priority is something high-paying. She plans to go to college right after she graduates high school in 2028.
Emma Perry, reporter
Senior Emma Perry is motivated to make her family proud and is thinking of a career in either political science or business. In school, she is class treasurer and the student representative on the school committee. She is also captain of the cheer team. In addition, she is a competitive dancer. Perry doesn’t let other people’s opinions weigh her down too much. Even though there have been many changes throughout her high school career, being herself is one thing that hasn’t changed.
Adonis Brice, reporter
Sophomore Adonis Brice wants to become a journalist or a lawyer. He plans on going to college right after graduation. Brice has moved houses a lot before coming to Everett, living in places like Fall River and New York. He feels the high school experience here at Everett High is better than his former high school. Brice has six siblings. Coming from a big family has taught him to manage his time better, be more patient, and deal with a lot of energy. He likes many genres of music, like K-Pop, hip hop and jazz. Brice’s favorite classes are English, math and history. Outside of school, Brice plays video games, talks to his family and loves his two cats, Bebe and Chi-Chi
Ashleigh Parlee, reporter
Junior Ashleigh Parlee is proud of her Italian heritage. Her great grandma came from a small island called Sicily. If money wasn’t an issue she would go to Sicily because it’s very pretty and she would like to connect and get to know her roots. After high school she wants to go to NYU to study nursing and hopes to become a pediatrician. If that doesn’t work out she still hopes to help people in some way by being a teacher or therapist. She decided to take journalism because she enjoys writing and also enjoys English class. She likes to write about people and their experiences, things having to relate to school, what’s going on in the world, and just open-minded free writing. She also has an older brother that told her about journalism. He is on the website but he has a mask on because it was during the pandemic. He is still currently on the website and wrote about her.
