In our country these days, unfortunately some people don’t acknowledge how immigration benefits certain things in communities. But immigration does benefit communities.
School clubs and authentic restaurants in cities and neighborhoods that bring people together that are hard working and expand opportunities for students and people in need of guidance. This also includes places such as help centers for language learners.
At school, I see and notice how people from different backgrounds and places put things together in their own way. Meaning that being in different environments from other countries can show how someone would see and think about things and how they work. Like learning a new language, instead of doing writing skills and practices, some immigrants just simply listen and observe how people communicate with each other.
Some would argue the opposite. Arguing that immigration brings no change or benefits to communities. An argument that could be made is that immigration brings a change of thought and consideration when it comes to simply trying to make a living or in need of new and better opportunities. Activities such as culture clubs and spirit weeks that include acknowledging the heritage of others in the communities bring individuals together and their personalities. Immigration also brings diverse innovation towards and growth towards perspective and creativity within students. It helps fellow students gain and understand where others come from in the sense of how differently they think and learn.
In Everett, immigrants benefit the community with their food as well. The saying “food brings people together” definitely applies to the restaurants and small businesses in local parts of the city. Seeing the same face over and over again from a delivery or walk-in tells a caring message to the employees and owner. It tells them more than just how much people like their food and service, it tells them how much they are often thought of in moments of being hungry or not having the energy to cook. Giving others the comfort of still getting something home cooked and fresh without having to spend as much money on fast food or other restaurants.
