The junior varsity girls played their hearts out against Somerville on Feb. 3.
Center Fredaica Lerbout played throughout the entire game, posting up on the defenders whenever she saw the chance. Her precision with rebounds and shots near the post was truly astounding.
Some teammates like Meghan Comerford and Tori Short helped with ball movement throughout the top of the key and the wings, and Gabby Morris made some great shots behind the three-point line all game. All girls played aggressively and with immense effort all 4 quarters of the game.
One moment that stood out twas the last quarter. Lerbout was on the floor with immense pain on her foot. It was hard to tell weather or not she was going to fight through and continue on with the game, until her coach yelled out “fight through it.” In a striking show of strength, Lerbout got up and continued on with the game by scoring two out of two free throw shots.
The moment really showcased the grit of this team. They bring each other up while still being competitive and challenging each other to improve their skills both inside and outside the gym. Their support for one another shows how this team isn’t just about basketball, but also about growth, trust, and learning to push through obstacles together.
