A statement on racism and police brutality from the student editorial board
October 13, 2020
The Crimson Times has a voice and a platform, and it’s essential that we use it to amplify the important message that the Black Lives Matter movement is sending. Far too many people have died at the hands of police brutality, and not nearly enough have gotten the justice they deserve. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, David McAtee, and Dion Johnson are recent victims of police brutality, a list that has unfortunately gone too long to fit into one document. Media coverage of these names will die down eventually, but our desire for change must not do the same. A simple, but effective way to get involved is through petitions, emails, and phone calls. A link below will take you to a website where everything is listed out, it only takes seconds to make a difference. Use your voice, and use your privilege. Listen to those that this country has been oppressing, continue to educate yourself and others, and do not turn a blind eye to this matter. https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/#
