![]() Sophomore Adonis Brice wants to become a journalist or a lawyer. He plans on going to college right after graduation. Brice has moved houses a lot before coming to Everett, living in places like Fall River and New York. He feels the high school experience here at Everett High is better than his former high school. Brice has six siblings. Coming from a big family has taught him to manage his time better, be more patient, and deal with a lot of energy. He likes many genres of music, like K-Pop, hip hop and jazz. Brice’s favorite classes are English, math and history. Outside of school, Brice plays video games, talks to his family and loves his two cats, Bebe and Chi-Chi. |
![]() Freshman Liya Wale is a family-oriented person who keeps her priorities straight. She’s a great time manager, a good listener, and an introvert, yet when she’s with the people she’s comfortable with, she feels like she can be herself. Wale feels at ease around her friends yet sometimes loves quiet places where she can recharge her social battery. Wale is usually happiest when she can just be herself and not worry too much about life. Music also plays a really important role in Wale’s life. It’s what she turns to when trying to relax. Wale enjoys quality time with people she can talk to and learn from, while still remaining true to herself in her own little shell. |
![]() Junior Gabriel Reyes Tejada hopes to be a detective because he’s good at finding things out and solving things and says he has been good at doing that ever since he was a kid. Reyes also says if he could go anywhere in the world he’d go to Spain because his favourite soccer team is there. In his free time he likes to go out with his friends and even though he’ll play any sport while outside, he says he likes to play soccer. When he isn’t outside, he likes to help his mom around the house. Reyes is from El Salvador and has actually been to El Salvador recently over the summer. Reyes doesn’t get to travel as often, but he hopes to travel more in the future. He says he doesn’t have a certain favorite subject in school. By next year, he hopes to have a car. |
![]() Senior Rihana Romain wants to write a book someday. Her favorite subject in school is English. She enjoys writing motivational poems that involve life experiences. Romain is also interested in psychology and business. In addition to writing, she is hoping to own a business that helps with expressing natural hair. Romain stays motivated by getting a headstart on her day with an open mind and discipline. She believes it is important to wake up with a clear head so she can push herself to deal with little distractions, because there are many obstacles in high school. Romain credits her teachers for helping her prepare for college. Romain’s top choice of school is UMass Boston. |
![]() Freshman Susana Prachi is a Bangladeshi fifteen year old who enjoys writing both in and out of school. Initially, she may seem like a very introverted, quiet person, but becomes a wholly different person when she gets comfortable. While creative writing is one of her more prominent hobbies, Prachi also likes reading and watching different TV shows and movies in her free time, and often finds herself becoming deeply immersed with the universe that her favoured media creates. Her favorite show is “The Haunting Of Hill House”, and her favorite movie is Crimson Peak. Another one of her hobbies is doing henna on her own hands and also for her family. She finds comfort and satisfaction in creating the intricate patterns and designs. Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Prachi moved to the US last November and has been living with her family of ten since. She still feels homesick and greatly misses Bangladeshi cuisine. Prachi tries to stay deeply connected with her culture and religion. During the pandemic, Prachi taught herself basic Turkish by watching different Turkish movies and dramas— a skill that she regrets not practicing further. Her favorite subject is English, but she is also interested in Biology. In the future, Prachi wishes for her career to revolve around her primary interests of writing, and hopes for a life that would make her parents proud. |
![]() Junior Ashleigh Parlee is proud of her Italian heritage. Her great grandma came from a small island called Sicily. If money wasn’t an issue she would go to Sicily because it’s very pretty and she would like to connect and get to know her roots. After high school she wants to go to NYU to study nursing and hopes to become a pediatrician. If that doesn’t work out she still hopes to help people in some way by being a teacher or therapist. She decided to take journalism because she enjoys writing and also enjoys English class. She likes to write about people and their experiences, things having to relate to school, what’s going on in the world, and just open-minded free writing. She also has an older brother that told her about journalism. He is on the website but he has a mask on because it was during the pandemic. He is still currently on the website and wrote about her. |
![]() Senior Emma Perry is motivated to make her family proud and is thinking of a career in either political science or business. In school, she is class treasurer and the student representative on the school committee. She is also captain of the cheer team. In addition, she is a competitive dancer. Perry doesn’t let other people’s opinions weigh her down too much. Even though there have been many changes throughout her high school career, being herself is one thing that hasn’t changed. |
![]() Freshman Ana Maciel is a very extroverted person. Maciel doesn’t struggle with expressing herself because of her outgoing nature only when it’s not reciprocated back. Maciel’s favorite quality about herself is her bravery because even when she isn’t feeling it she just tells herself to just do it. She tries to keep stable and positive. Her favorite place to be is with family and friends because she likes to be comfortable. Maciel’s family is very important to her because she always takes their feedback. Her biggest inspiration and role model is her mother because she is brave. Maciel wants people to perceive her as a nice, caring person because that’s who she thinks she is. No matter who she’s around she is able to create conversation with them. Maciel also loves having some quality time alone playing video games. |
![]() Sophomore Anne-Laurie Elescar is Haitian, but was born here in Massachusetts, and hasn’t lived in any other state. Her birthday is December 24. She is Christian and goes to church every other Sunday. Elescar’s favorite types of music are rap, r&b and a little bit of jazz. Her favorite artists are Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, and Laufey. Elescar has two sisters. In her freetime, she crochets and watches K-Dramas on Netflix. Elescar is very hard working in school and takes all honors classes. Her favorite subjects are math and history. Journalism is her favorite elective. Elescar’s favorite book series is The Hunger Games. She is fluent in only one language, that being English, but she can understand most Haitian Creole, and is learning Spanish. Elescar does not know what career she’ll choose in the future, but her priority is something high-paying. She plans to go to college right after she graduates high school in 2028. |
![]() Freshman Ester Coelho wants to be a lawyer. She was born in Brazil and her life there was pretty good. The Brazilian state she’s from has a lot of rivers, which may be why she has liked water since she was a little kid. She came to the United States in 2024, living first in Orlando, Florida for a month before moving to Everett. Coelho loves to write, either digitally or by hand, and she likes to read a lot too. Her favorite book genre is fantasy. Besides writing and reading, Coelho loves her culture a lot and is very proud of it. She loves samba, coxinha, brigadeiro, and her favorite type of music is MPB, which stands for Música Popular Brasileira (Brazilian Pop Music). Her favorite singers are Chico Buarque, Rita Lee, Baco Exu do Blues and Orochi. She likes to cook cultural food from different countries, and her favorite type of food is Mexican. She doesn’t have any pets, but her favorite animals are cats, tigers,and lions. Coelho speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish, and wants to learn Russian, French and German. |
![]() Junior Beatriz Heggndorn has many dreams for her future. She is not sure yet if she wants to be a criminal lawyer or a veterinarian, but both careers show how much she cares about helping others. She describes herself as introverted, but also admits that sometimes she does things impulsively without planning. One example was her decision to join the journalism class, a choice she now enjoys because it lets her learn new skills and try something different. Heggndorn is originally from Brazil, and is proud of her home state, Minas Gerais, which is famous for its rich culinary traditions, like pão de queijo and feijão tropeiro. She also hopes to travel the world one day to do volunteer work and support people in need, showing how much she values helping others. In her free time, Heggndorn enjoys playing Roblox, where she can explore, create, and have fun with friends. Another passion of hers is photography, especially taking pictures of people, even though she prefers not to be in front of the camera. For Heggndorn, photos are a way to capture memories and moments that might be forgotten otherwise. She also enjoys helping others in small ways every day, which makes her feel happy and useful. Heggndorn is ambitious, caring and sometimes spontaneous. She wants a future where she can succeed in her career while also making a positive difference in the lives of others. She hopes her education, hobbies, and experiences will help her grow and prepare for a life full of learning, adventure, and helping people around the world. |
