If you’re from Everett, chances are you’ve heard of Richie’s. It’s one of those local spots that everyone seems to know about, especially once the weather starts getting warm.
On a sunny afternoon, I decided to stop by and see what the hype was all about since I had never gone there before. I ordered my usual which I always order at any ice cream store: a chocolate soft serve with M&Ms.

The chocolate soft serve was smooth, creamy, and tasted pretty good. While it was definitely enjoyable, I have to admit that the ice cream at Dairymaid, another local spot, is better in terms of flavor and toppings. Richie’s had only a few topping selections compared to dairymaid’s huge selection which is hard to beat.
But what Richie’s has that Dairymaid doesn’t is real food. Besides the ice cream, Richie’s actually serves real food like burgers, chicken tenders, and fries. I ordered myself fries which were pretty good. They weren’t terrible but they also weren’t excitingly good. But having food at an ice cream spot is actually a really good idea. It was nice to have that option, especially if you’re not just there for dessert
The atmosphere at Richie’s also adds to the experience. It’s a small spot, but it feels welcoming. There are teenagers working and also families just hanging around and eating. It feels like a community thing.
Overall, my visit to Richie’s was definitely worth it. Now, I’m curious to try more flavors. While the ice cream might not beat Dairymaid’s, Richie’s makes up for it with its variety and welcoming atmosphere.
So, whether you’re a local or just passing through Everett, Richie’s is a great spot to cool off and enjoy a classic summer treat if it’s both a snack and something sweet.
