With the new year of 2025 rolling in and everyone learning from past mistakes and current situations, people have strived to do something to start their new year off with and to better themselves with: New Year’s Resolutions.
Every year you want to achieve something important to set up the rest of the year. Many Everett high school students and staff showed their thoughts with us on their resolutions.
Sophomore Bridgette Neary dreams of improving herself by focusing more on things and being more on track. She plans to initiate this resolution by planning to “set my mind to the things that have to be done, or what I want done and try my hardest to do them.”
There is a popularity of goals like physicality. Junior Matthew Cucuzza has a desire to lose weight and to get his body into a better shape. To get this New Year’s Resolution started, Cucuzza plans to “go to the gym more [and] eat better.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to start going to the gym and to be consistent,” senior Mama Gassama said. “Last year in 2024, I said all year I was gonna go to the gym, and I didn’t. I got very busy and so this year, my New Year’s resolution is to go and to stay consistent and be on it and go at least, like, four times a week.¨
Most students fall off their grades as they go down and also with their motivation. With the new year most students realize their mistakes and try to efficiently change things around. Having the third quarter now people are more focused than ever on passing their classes.
Meanwhile, some other students and staff wanted to improve their hobbies.
“I kind of want to host a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with some folks in my building,” student teacher Joe Sackett said
“My new year’s resolution is to learn how to play the piano,” freshman Giuliana Ring stated. “I will try to learn it by practicing often.”
