The new song “GOODBYE YESTERDAY” by Elevation Rhythm has been on repeat for me lately. The vocals, lyrics, and upbeat vibe are a perfect mix for doing chores, cooking, driving, and getting ready.
For Christian teens who want to start listening to gospel music but like the beat and vibes of secular music, I feel like Elevation Rhythm helps to get you to listen to Godly music and still have an upbeat vibe and for you to enjoy it.
The song starts more upbeat and hyped and we mostly hear the male singers’ vocals. Towards the middle, you start to hear the chorus: “I have decided to follow Jesus, the world behind, the cross behind and I won’t turn back,” that the band uses to start to hype up the listeners even more. In the end, it starts to die down and we can hear more of the female singers’ vocals.
I think this band’s style is unique because gospel music is normally slow and somber but Elevation Rhythm’s music makes you feel like dancing and just having fun. My expectations for this band were low since I’d never heard about their music or any upbeat Christian music. The work is very similar to the band’s previous work.
Their work differs from soulful songs and upbeat songs. The point of this work of art is to get Christian teenagers involved in music that they would like and listen to but that would also share the word of God.
I wasn’t expecting myself to like this band as much as I did. It shows that not all Christian music is boring and that you can listen to songs that fit the vibe that you listen to except in this case you also get the extra benefit that it will fill you with some of God’s word.
