Gracie Abrams, once known as a small artist who debuted with her single “Mean It” back in 2019, has recently blown up. In June, she released her second studio album, “The Secret of Us.” This album had 13 tracks and featured Taylor Swift. It includes songs in the indie pop, folk music, and country pop genres.
“The Secret of Us” was an amazing album filled with relatable pop songs while bringing a sense of energy behind them with beats and instrumentals in the background. Though, some songs are explicit so it may not be for the younger audience the vibe and the moods of the songs are perfect. The album includes the songs ” That’s So True” and “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” which have gotten tons of attention on social media. Both are currently on the top 100 charts.
I was excited when the song ‘Close to You’ was released as a single and later brought back as a part of the deluxe version of “The Secret of Us.”
I’m proud of her for her newfound fame since I’ve been listening to her since 2021 right after her album “minor” came out.
While many like me are happy for the attention she has been getting, others are sad that their “underground artist” has now been ‘tiktok-ified.’ Some also think that it’s unfair that she blew up just because she opened for Taylor Swift last year at her Eras Tour and that Swift got her fame. Others bring up the fact that she’s a “nepo baby” since her dad is the famous movie director JJ Abrams, who wrote and produced movies like Star Trek and Star Wars.
Even though people have differing opinions about Gracie Abrams and her album, I would definitely recommend this album if you are into pop music or want to try listening to something new.
